Marietta City Schools to Lower Millage Rate

The Board of Education of the City of Marietta will hold a special called meeting Tuesday, July 23 at 6 p.m. to lower the school district millage rate (property tax rate) currently at 19.157 mills to 18.682 mills.

The decrease of 0.475 mills will provide City of Marietta taxpayers with a reduction in their property tax from last year.

The FY14 general fund budget adopted by the Board of Education of the City of Marietta does not require a millage rate higher than the rollback millage rate. Georgia law therefore exempts the school board from holding three public hearings before finalizing the millage rate.
