Marietta School Is the 'Epitome of Excellence'

It was the only school in the Marietta system to make the list.

The Marietta Center for Advanced Academics today was named one of 28 Georgia Schools of Excellence in Student Achievement and will receive a $1,000 check from Georgia Natural Gas to be used however school officials wish.

Marietta Center for Advanced Academics earned a "highest performance" designation based on its College and Career Ready Performance Index, according to a release from the Georgia Department of Education. It was the only school in the Marietta system to make the list.

Three Cobb schools were also singled out for their gains. Garrison Mill Elementary, Kennesaw Charter and King Springs Elementary made the "highest progress" list.

"These schools are the epitome of excellence,” Superintendent John Barge said in a statement. “Their focus on areas that impact student success is evident across the board.”
