Marietta School SPLOST Project List

On Tuesday Cobb voters will decide whether to extend the current Local Option Sales Tax (SPLOST) for school maintenance and construction projects in the Cobb County School District and Marietta City Schools.

The Cobb Education SPLOST IV, if passed, would collect a penny on the dollar from Jan. 1, 2014 through Dec. 31, 2018. The Cobb County School District would receive $717.8 million and Marietta City Schools $55.4 million.

Among the major projects slated for Marietta City Schools are $20.1 million for school construction and renovation projects, $15.2 million in debt retirement and $13.6 million in technology upgrades. The district's SPLOST web page has more information. 

The attached PDF files, compiled by the Cobb County School District, include descriptions of the work that would be done at all schools in the Osborne high school district, including a $29.9 million replacement of the Osborne facility.

Two unspecified Cobb elementary school replacements, each costing $23 million, and a new $30 milllion career academy also would be built.

The polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., and voters will go to their usual election day precincts.
