MCAA Teachers Named SMART Exemplary Educators

Three Marietta educators are among the 150 teachers named SMART Exemplary Educators in North America.

Three Marietta Center for Advanced Academics (MCAA) educators, Stormi Johnson, third-grade teacher; Susie Throop, fourth-grade teacher; and Dacia Riles, third-grade teacher, were named SMART Exemplary Educators, and are among only 150 teachers selected for the honor in North America each year.  

The North American SMART Exemplary Educator program is open to K–12 teachers, technology coordinators and administrators in the United States and Canada who are committed to developing engaging content and sharing their expertise with other educators.

To become a SMART Exemplary Educator, educators must:

  • Use SMART products in innovative ways to improve student learning outcomes;
  • Complete an application that highlights their commitment to developing effective educational practices and sharing them with other educators;
  • Provide a letter of reference from a school administrator; and
  • Demonstrate a significant history of SMART-related professional development.
