School Nutrition Employee Week is an opportunity for parents, students, school staff and communities to thank those who provide healthy meals to 32 million of America’s students each school day.

“All across the Marietta City school district, our school nutrition professionals will be honored with thanks, cards, and recognition from students, school staff, parents, and the community,” said Cindy Culver, MCS Director of School Nutrition. “Thanks to the diligence and dedication of our school nutrition staff we were recently named one of 25 Georgia school districts serving to serve more local healthy food in our school cafeterias, and were presented with the first ever Golden Radish Award.”

School nutrition employees must balance many roles and follow numerous federal, state and local regulations to ensure safe and healthy meals are available in schools. “For many children, school lunch is the most important and nutrient-rich meal of their day,” added Culver. “Breakfast is also offered to all MCS students. Good nutrition is essential for learning as we serve education every day.”
