Two Marietta High School (MHS) students, Brooke R. Donnelly and Morgan Middleton, are among the 34,000 Commended Students nationwide, in the 2013 National Merit Scholarship Program achieving recognition for their exceptional academic promise.

"The strong performance of these students in the highly competitive Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test demonstrates their outstanding academic potential,” said MHS principal, Leigh Colburn. β€œThey are leaders in their classrooms and exceptional students, and I am proud of their achievement and this recognition.”

Although they will not continue in the 2013 competition for National Merit Scholarships, Commended Students placed among the top five percent of more than 1.5 million students who entered the competition. Some of these students do become candidates for Special Scholarships sponsored by corporations and businesses.
