MHS Educator Named New Marietta Middle School Principal

Forrestella Taylor replaces Tim Jones, after 12 years of service to the school system, effective July 22, 2013.

The Board of Education of the City of Marietta has named Forrestella Taylor, currently a ninth grade Assistant Principal at Marietta High School (MHS), as the new Principal at Marietta Middle School. 

Taylor replaces Tim Jones, after 12 years of service to the school system, effective July 22, 2013. Jones recently accepted a position as Principal of B.E.S.T. Academy High School at Atlanta Public Schools effective Aug. 1, 2013.

Taylor has served as the ninth grade Assistant Principal at MHS since 2011 and currently oversees the MHSQuest Performance Learning Center (PLC). She has also served as an Assistant Principal at A.L. Burruss and Dunleith Elementary from 2005 – 2011, and as an elementary grades teacher at Marietta City Schools, Burlington Township Schools and Trenton Public Schools in New Jersey.

“Forrestella’s leadership in initiatives focused on student transition from middle school to ninth grade, and implementation of blended learning opportunities such as the Quest PLC at Marietta High School provide her with a strong experience base in working with middle school students and educators,” said Emily Lembeck, Superintendent Marietta City Schools.

A graduate of Kennesaw State University, Taylor earned a Master of Education at that institute, and an Education Specialist degree at Argosy University. She earned a Bachelor of Science at Howard University in Washington, D.C.
