New MCS Special Education Director Named

The Board of Education of the City of Marietta has named Dr. Josette Bailey—current Assistant Director of Special Education, H.A.V.E.N. Academy Cobb County Schools—as Director, Special Education for Marietta City Schools (MCS). 

Bailey replaces Jody Drum (recently named Assistant Superintendent for Special Services effective July 1, 2013).

Bailey brings 20 years of experience in Special Education, most recently as Assistant Director of H.A.V.E.N. Academy, a Georgia Network of Educational and Therapeutic Supports (GNETS) program serving Marietta City, Cobb, and Douglas County.

Over the course of her 17-year tenure with the Cobb County School District, Bailey served as a Special Education Supervisor/Teacher, Professional Learning Instructor, and Student Support Team Coordinator.

A graduate of Georgia State University, Bailey earned a Doctorate of Education and a Master of Education in Special Education at that institute, and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology at Spelman College in Atlanta.
