Nine Marietta City Schools Earn Distinction

The Marietta schools were recognized for achieving Adequate Yearly Progress at least three years in a row.

The Georgia Department of Education named nine 2011 Title I Distinguished Schools. The nine are among 824 Georgia Title I Distinguished Schools recognized by the state for achieving Adequate Yearly Progress at least three years in a row.

“We are very proud to add Marietta Sixth Grade Academy and Marietta High School to the list of Title I Distinguished Schools this year,” said Dr. Emily Lembeck, Superintendent, in a press release.

“This is quite an achievement when you consider that the accountability bar has continued to rise each year making it increasingly more difficult for schools to achieve AYP.”
