Sawyer Road Elementary Awarded $1,500 Kroger 'Go for the Gold' Grant

Sawyer Road Elementary is the latest recipient of a $1,500 grant from Kroger’s Atlanta Division as part of its 2012-2013 Earning Plus Learning program.

The annual contest invited schools to creatively describe their efforts to “Go for the Gold” throughout the school year in terms of diversity, nutrition, exercise, fair play and helping others. The Earning Plus Learning entries took the form of scrapbooks, photos, videos, essays, news clippings and more. 

Sawyer Road joins A.L. Burruss Elementary, West Side Elementary and Marietta Middle School as recipients of grants totaling $9,000 from Kroger’s 2012-2013 Earning Plus Learning program.

“We thank Kroger for this outstanding support. Sawyer Road, like the other three schools will certainly put these funds to good use in ways that will ultimately benefit our students and teachers,” said Emily Lembeck, Marietta City Schools Superintendent.

  • $5,000 Grand Prize grant winner: A.L. Burruss Elementary
  • $2,500 Second Place grant winner: West Side Elementary

  • $1,500 Honorary Prize grant winner: Marietta Middle School
