Southern Poly Launches First Mobile App for Students

Southern Polytechnic State University (SPSU) announced Monday that it will launch its first mobile application (app) just in time for the start of the new semester.

Southern Polytechnic State University (SPSU) announced Monday that it will launch its first mobile application (app) just in time for the start of the new semester. 

The “SPSU Mobile” app will be available to download via Google Play for Android devices and the App Store for Apple devices.

“Today’s student is increasingly mobile, and we as a university recognize the need to incorporate technology as a means to easily connect those we serve to multiple facets of the institution through an on-the-go portal,” Dr. Sam Conn, SPSU vice president for information technology and chief information officer, said in a press release.

The “SPSU Mobile” app will provide users with management functions, including the ability to:

  • Register for classes;
  • View term courses – and drop them when needed;
  • View campus news, athletics information, events calendar, emergency contacts and map;
  • Receive push notifications;
  • Search the university-wide directory;
  • Research SPSU job availabilities;
  • Retrieve his/her student information and financial profile summaries;
  • Submit feedback and elicit help; and
  • Link to SPSU’s Twitter, Facebook and YouTube accounts.
