SPSU Finally Snips Ribbon on Engineering Technology Center

University and local dignitaries officially open Southern Polytechnic's $30 million center, more than three months after ice storm canceled original ribbon-cutting date.

on Tuesday officially unveiled its new $30 million Engineering Technology Center, which had originally been scheduled for a grand opening in January. That ribboncutting ceremony was postponed due to a record ice storm in Georgia.

The three-story, 123,000-square-foot building now houses many of the university's engineering and engineering technology students and faculty under one roof.

Shan Cooper, the new vice president of Lockheed Martin Aeronautics and general manager of Lockheed's Marietta plant, delivered the official remarks at the ceremony.
