The student of the month, teacher of the month and contest winners were honored at the .
Fallon Robinson, a fifth grader at was named student of the month for October. Robinson has had straight A's since she joined the school in second grade. She is an avid reader, a member of Burruss Beavers in Harmony, on the reading bowl and math bowl teams and studies gymnastics.
Robinson also spends her time helping others. She donates clothes and collects pop tabs for Ronaold McDonald House. She was presented with an award certificate and given a gift certificate to the .
The student of the month is chosen from students from Kindergarten through 12th grade. Staff nominate students and then pass names onto the Board of Education.
Meka Sterling was named the October employee of the month. Sterling is the operational assistant for Marietta City Schools Transportation Department. She joined the system as a bus driver in 2002.
Sterling worked tirelessly so that Marietta school buses could accommodate an additional 500 to 600 students at the start of the school year. She was presented with a $100 check at the meeting.
The 2011 Bus Safety Poster contest theme was "I See The Driver—The Driver Sees Me!"
Posters submitted for the contest had to be original in theme and correct in the safety concept. Judging criteria included relation to school bus safety practices, originality, artwork, execution and visual impact.

"It was fun," Benitez said of the contest. "I wanted to do something much different from the others. I didn't want it (her poster) to be boring."
