Blue Devils Thump Centennial in 1st Round
Marietta got its first playoff win in football in six years.
The tallied 448 yards of total offense Friday night to beat Centennial, 48-27, and advanced into the second round of the GHSA Class AAAAA State Football Championships.
Marietta head coach Scott Burton didn't like the sloppy play from his team, which was penalized 11 times, accordig to the Marietta Daily Journal, but was happy with the win.
Marietta quarterback Anthony Jennings played a part in six of the Blue Devils' seven touchdowns on the night, throwing for 241 yards and four scores and rushing for 81 yards and two touchdowns.
Ro'Mello Porter led the Blue Devils in rushing with 109 yards and a touchdown.
Marietta has now won six of its last seven games after starting the season 0-4. The Blue Devils will travel to Camden County next Friday for the second round of the playoffs.
