CTC Falls to Albany Tech in GCAA First Round

The Golden Eagles finish the season at 19-12 overall, improving on the team's 17-14 record last year, its first as an NJCAA member.

’s men’s basketball team fell in the final seconds of the first round of the GCAA tournament, losing 57-56 to Albany Tech on the road at nearby Darton College.

The Golden Eagles, who took a 56-53 lead after an with 30 seconds remaining, lost the lead when ATC hit a 3-pointer to tie with 12 seconds to play. A free throw by Jamorris Gaines of Albany Tech with 1.7 seconds gave the Titans the one-point advantage, and a long CTC inbounds pass was intercepted to end the game.

Chatt Tech, the No. 5 seed, got 23 points, nine rebounds and three blocks from the 6-foot-11 sophomore Dixon-Tatum, who shot 7-for-8 from the field and a perfect 9-for-9 from the free-throw line in his final game as a Golden Eagle. His 14 second-half points were not enough, however, as No. 4 seed Albany Tech moves on to play No. 1 seed Georgia Perimeter on Friday night.

scored nine points, dished out four assists and swiped four steals, while freshman guard James Henderson had five points.

Chattahoochee Tech fell behind by 12 points early in the second half after a 26-26 halftime tie, trailing 40-28 just minutes into the period. But The Golden Eagles fought all the way back to tie the game at 48-48 on two Tate free throws with 6:40 left, and held a 54-50 lead, their biggest of the game, with under three minutes to play.
