Dobbins Wins Softball World Title

The air base's team now moves up from intramural to Varsity B level.

The intramural softball team won the world military championship last month.

Soldiers and airmen from the Marietta base competed in the U.S. Specialty Sports Association Military World Softball Championship from Aug. 18 to 21 at Frank Brown Park Sports Complex in Panama City Beach, Fla.

The squad, Team Atlanta, went 5-0 in the tournament to top a field of 18 teams of active-duty and Reserve personnel from all military branches.

An 8-5 win over the Who Dat team from New Orleans clinched the title. The Who Dat team won the tournament in Dallas in June, when the .

Team Atlanta's William Douglas won the tournament MVP award, and teammate Perry Faulk was the defensive MVP. Also named to the All Tournament Team from Dobbins were Terry Bozeman, Houser Justin, Robert Stewart and Ron George.
