Marietta Boys Sixth in Cross Country

The Walker School's girls and boys make the top 20 in the state A race.

The ran to sixth place at the AAAAA state boys cross-country championships in Carrollton on Saturday, while the boys and girls posted solid finishes in the A race.

Leading the way for the Marietta boys was Jaylen Ferguson, who finished the 5K race in 27th. Less than 10 seconds behind him were Jake Bagwell in 34th and Ben Pleak in 36th. Also scoring for the Blue Devils were Davin Melton and Trager Kviten.

In the A boys race, Walker finished ninth on the strength of David Berrios in 30th, George Litchfield in 31st, Harry Hutchins in 50th, Garry Simpson in 68th and Hayden Salyer in 95th. Vinnie Paglinoni came in right behind Salyer in 96th.

In the A girls race, Afton Nourzad finished 36th, Nicole Cook 82nd, Tia Johnson 116th, Abby Dominy 117th and Mallory Delgado 120th as Walker placed 16th overall.
