Marietta Defense Tries to Bounce Back

Marietta, Osborne and the Walker School hit the road in search of the season's first win.

Marietta’s high school football teams look to break out tonight after tough opening games last week.

(0-1) at (1-0)—Marietta’s defense struggled against South Cobb in a season-opening 33-26 loss at home. That doesn’t serve as a good omen as the Blue Devils now have to focus on stopping Hillgrove’s powerful attack, led by future Alabama Crimson Tide running back Kenyon Drake. The Blue Devils’ best bet may be to ride the shoulders of talented quarterback Anthony Jennings and keep the Hillgrove offense off the field. Kickoff is at 7:30.

(0-1) at Woodward Academy (0-1)—Can a solid class AAA team that won 10 games a year ago (Woodward) stand up to a AAAA school looking to establish itself in a competitive region? That question will be answered when Osborne travels to College Park, hoping to snap an eight-game losing streak that extends back to last season. Osborne will have its work cut out for it: The Cardinals lost this game 47-0 a year ago. Kickoff is at 7:30.

(0-1) at Calvary Day (1-0)—The road doesn’t get any easier for Walker after its 38-13 season opening loss to Whitefield Academy; it just gets longer. The Wolverines travel to Savannah to take on Calvary Day in an attempt to avenge last year’s 42-20 loss. The kickoff is at 7:30; you can log on to the Calvary Day sports network at 7:25 to watch the game online.

Good grief, if the rifle can kill someone, why on earth would you give it to a five-year-old? ThisRead More one just boggles my mind. I hope that even the NRA has a problem with this.

This is a fine example of freedom being too much to handle for some folks. The idiots who gave theRead More kid the gun should be jailed. Its obvious that a 5 year old should neither posses, nor handle a firearm period. Having said that I am a full supporter of the Second Amendment and the NRA. However we cannot measure the validity of the right to bear arms by using these idiot parents as a case study.
