Get Out to Helicopter Rides, Art Walk, 'Smoke on the Mountain'

This weekend in Marietta take a helicopter ride over the city, enjoy art on Marietta Square, stop by the Marietta Square Farmers' Market or see Marietta's "Smoke on the Mountain."

1.Take a helicopter ride over Marietta on Saturday, Aug. 4. Rides will take place between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. from the intersection of South Cobb Drive and Atlanta Road. Tickets are $35. A portion of the proceeds will benefit the Aviation Wing of the Marietta Museum of History

2. It's time for the First Friday Art Walk, a free self-guided tour aroun d Marietta Square. Along with more than 30 merchants hosting artists in their stores, this year's First Friday Art Walk will feature Artists' Alley, an intimate exhibit of juried artists showing a wide variety of styles.The event takes place from 5 to 9 p.m.

3. The bluegrass revival , starring members of the original Theatre in the Square cast, will be presented by the Atlanta Lyric Theatre from July 27 through Aug. 5 at the .

4. Join the  for a ride through Marietta history Thursday through Saturday at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. and Sunday at 1 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. Highlights of the tour include Marietta Square/Glover Park, the Western & Atlantic Depot, National Cemetery, Tranquilla, Kennesaw Mountain and the Root House.

5. Walk the streets of haunted Marietta by lantern light with the . Tours are 90 minutes and the walk is under a mile. Tours are Thursday, Friday and Saturday at 8:30 p.m.

6. Don't forget about the Marietta Square Farmers Market on Saturday, 9 a.m. to noon and Sunday, 12 to 3 p.m.
