7 Reasons to Host Your Kids Party at Home

Seven reasons why you should have your kids birthday party at home.

1. Get Comfortable

Kids feel relaxed and comfortable in their own home. They love to show their friends around and show off their collection of toys and gadgets. Parents also feel more relaxed in their own home and more in control of the kids attending the party.

2. Get People Involved

It’s a great way to include family members and close friends. Family members can sometimes feel disconnected from your kids due to distance or time restraints.  This is a great way to include them, they will feel special and so will your child.  Use their talents, if you have a Grandmother that’s good at baking, let her bake a cake, let Grandfather build something that ties into the theme.  Kid’s parties are joyous occasions; you need to spread the love around.

3. Save Money OR Spend Money

You can certainly spend a fortune by having the party at home but you can also save more money.  By having a party at home you have more control over how much you spend.  You can be frugal and creative by designing an amazing party on a shoestring budget.  Most party venues start at around $200. OR if you have extra cash and you want to throw a once in a lifetime party for that special child in your life, go for it.  In your home you will not have the restrictions that most party venues have.  Go crazy, be creative or hire a planner to turn your home into a chocolate factory or a Princess Castle for a day.

4. Socialize

Invite the parents to stay, include it in the invitation or mention it before the day of the party.  Moms are always ready to give a helping hand at parties.  Let them help you with various activities you have planned.  If the kids are older and need less supervision, use the time to sit and chat.  It’s important to know the families your kids are playing with.  Great friendships are formed this way.

5. Invite Who You Want

Most party venues have party packages that start at around $200 and include a certain number of children. If you go over that number the cost starts going up and sometimes you cannot exceed a certain number. Having the party at home lets you invite as few kids as you want, remember a party can be just two or three kids. Or as many as you want, that’s assuming you have the space.

6. Stop Complaining

Three reasons why parents don’t have parties at home are, My house is too small, my home is untidy and it’s too much work. It’s just one day a year and it’s their special day, they are not going to notice or care about those things.  If you have more than one child, rotate so each child gets one birthday party at home a year.  Plan in advance and if they are above three years old include them in the planning. Solicit friends and family to help so it is not overwhelming. Have them help to rearrange furniture to create more space and don’t forget to ask them to stay to help clean up.  Relax and have fun.

7. Create a Lifelong Memory

Years from now when your kids are older and looking through old photos, they will come across their party photos and say “I remember that house, I remember that sofa, look at Aunt so and so. That was the best party ever”.  Versus “where was this photo taken, who’s that in the photo?”  Yep, when you have a party at a party venue invariably there will be lots of other kids who you haven’t invited and they will be in your photos too!

I know that home parties cannot work for everyone and I have succumbed many times to the party venues but I think that every kid should get a least one home party.  Those photos really are the best.

Tips: If your budget allows hire a party planner or look online for party kits or party boxes that have the complete solution. www.swankypartybox.com.
