So I finally found it, The Hoboken Café on Whitlock Road in Marietta. The first time I pulled into the parking lot a few weeks ago, I went up to the door to find that this café doesn't open till 11.30. Hum! Thought to myself if this place were truly Hoboken, it would have opened at 6:00 am for the big commuter rush into NYC.

Got out today and wanted to go on a journey to seek out the Hoboken Café.

So the owner was very nice. We talked about days long ago in Hoboken. Been a very long time since I’ve had some food from Hoboken. Last time we went up to the homeland, our family friend took us to an old pizza joint. The pizza was almost as big as the table that seated 6 people. Delicious!

At the Hoboken Café I ordered the sausage, peppers and onions sandwich and a chicken parmesan sandwich with a motive to not have to cook dinner that night.

While waiting for my food I got nosey and looked at the photos on the wall. Impressive!

I did take note that the place was very well lit with sun streaming through the windows. Very clean! Felt the urge to go home and clean my kitchen, luckily that feeling passed.

The guy mentioned his freshly baked bread with a special recipe getting it to within 98% of those hard breads and rolls that we northerners miss so much.

This guy makes his own mozzarella cheese. The cold cuts are shipped from New Jersey.

The place looked nice. Some people abandoned their sandwiches. Guess it would be wrong to take a bite of one of them.

Ah, but this is what got me. This simple photo on the wall of places back in Hoboken.

Here is where it hits home for me. On this one photo was a shot of The Clam Broth House. My dad loved that place. Think it must have been one of the best restaurants around back in the 1960’s. Lines of people wrapped around the block in the heat or cold or rain just to get some of the best seafood around. I remember that my dad would try to get us, my brothers and my sister, to eat muscles, clams and calamari but I know I would not budge. Think they must have had hamburgers to eat for meat lovers.

Nice menu! Gotta go back to try the cheese raviolis.

I noticed that the owner had a few American flags in the grass except this one. Wonder why someone had drilled a hole in sidewalk to place a flag right there when the grass was a few inches away.

Now, I guess you want to know how the sandwiches tasted. The sandwiches were big, too big. I cut off a chunk of each the sausage, peppers and onions and then the chicken parm and ….. they were real good. Really good! Like I said I am headed back there sometime this week to get the cheese raviolis.
