Gobble Jog Raises Money for Needy

10,000 runners are expected to participate in the Thanksgiving Day fundraiser.

Registration is now open for the Gobble Jog to be held Thanksgiving Day.

The Gobble Jog raises the funds that enable to provide food, shelter, clothing and other services for individuals and families needing assistance or who are in crisis.

The 2011 event is expected to be the largest to date and will draw thousands who will run or walk in the 10K, 5K, 1K and Tot Trot races that originate and finish at the Marietta Square. The Gobble Jog is certified as a qualifier for seeding in the Peachtree Road Race and the US 10K Classic.

Registration information for the event held on Nov. 24, Thanksgiving Day, can be found at www.gobblejog.org and http://www.facebook.com/#!/GobbleJog.

In 2010, more than 8,300 people from almost 50 states participated in the MUST Ministries Marietta Daily Journal Gobble Jog and helped raise $285,000 for the nonprofit agency. MUST Ministries served more than 32,000 distinct individuals (almost half of whom were children), provided more than 46,000 bed nights of rest, served approximately 78,000 meals and gave away a ton of food every day.

Over the last nine years the Gobble Jog has raised a cumulative total of more than one million dollars for MUST Ministries.

MUST Ministries, celebrating its 40th anniversary in 2011, is a faith-based, 501(c)3 non-profit charitable organization dedicated to providing services to persons and families in crisis while maintaining their dignity.
