Lockheed Martin Honored for 50,000 Volunteer Hours

Of the employees recognized, 70 reported 250 or more hours. They received a Lockheed Martin Community Service Award, which includes a $250 donation to the non-profit organization of their choice on behalf of the company.

Lockheed Martin recognized employees in Marietta for providing 50,000 collective volunteer hours to local community organizations in 2011.

“Community service and volunteering are as intrinsic to Lockheed Martin’s Marietta site as the aircraft that were and are built here," said Shan Cooper, Lockheed Martin vice president and Marietta site general manager.

"Our employees have a rich history of supporting the communities where we work and live—a history that I’m proud to see extended and expanded with longtime and new organizations. I want to thank these employees for dedicating their time and talents to others.”

Of these employees, 70 reported 250 or more hours. They received a Lockheed Martin Community Service Award, which includes a $250 donation to the non-profit organization of their choice on behalf of the company.

Additionally, 154 Lockheed Martin employees in Marietta received the 2011 President’s Volunteer Service Award. Employees eligible for the President’s award logged 100 or more volunteer hours with local community organizations, including area educational groups, sports leagues and scouting organizations. The award included a certificate signed by President Barack Obama.

In 2011, 1.3 million total volunteer hours were logged on Lockheed Martin’s companywide volunteers website, marking the seventh consecutive year volunteer hours topped the 1 million hour level. Since 2002, Lockheed Martin employees have logged over 10.2 million volunteer hours.
