Marietta Teen Named Youth of the Year

This year 22 of Boys & Girls top members will be honored and compete for the title of metro Atlanta Youth of the Year at the annual Youth of the Year Dinner and Awards Ceremony Thursday.

Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Atlanta named Kadijah Brookes of James T. Anderson Boys & Girls Club a Youth of the Year for Cobb County.

Youths of the Year is a year-round development program that honors Boys & Girls Club members as outstanding citizens and leaders. Each Boys & Girls Club selects one Youth of the Year winner to represent them. Selections are made based on a combination of academic achievement, leadership qualities and engagement in the club and community.

Brookes, a senior at , is a nine-year Club member. She is involved in multiple leadership and community programs. She plans to attend culinary school upon graduation.

The event is themed the Face of the Future because all 22 Youths of the Year represent the future of metro Atlanta.

“We are so excited to showcase our Faces of the Future,” said Missy Dugan, chief executive officer of Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Atlanta, in a press release. “Every year, thousands of new faces walk through our club doors full of potential. Our goal is to help transform that potential into future success.”
