New Marietta City Council Member Sworn In

Cobb County Superior Court judge Adele Grubbs administered the oath of office to new Ward 4 City Councilman Andy Morris on Aug. 6 at City Hall.

Cobb County Superior Court judge Adele Grubbs administered the oath of office to new Ward 4 City Councilman Andy Morris on Aug. 6 at City Hall.  Voters elected Morris to fill the unexpired term of Van Pearlberg, who resigned to pursue another elected office. Morris will serve through 2013. Seven committees of Marietta City Council discuss new initiatives and legislation before deciding whether to forward issues to the full Council for consideration and possible action. Andy Morris Reclaims His Marietta City Council Seat

Andy Morris held the Marietta City Council Ward 4 seat from 2002 to 2005.

Former Councilman Andy Morris reclaimed his old Ward 4 seat on the Marietta City Council. Morris ran against Patti Pearlberg in a special election Tuesday to fill the unexpired term of former Councilman Van Pearlberg. According to unofficial results from the Georgia Secretary of State's office, Morris defeated Patti Pearlberg, 1,465 to 1,082 or 57.43 to 42.41 percent. The seat was vacated when attorney Van Pearlberg, who has been on the council for six years, resigned to run for the office of Cobb Superior Court Judge. Morris will serve until Dec. 31, 2013, the expiration of Van Pearlberg’s term. Morris regained the seat he held from 2002 to 2005, when he did not seek re-election.
