Cobb Travel & Tourism announced the development and launch of its new mobile website last week. Smartphone users will now be able to access and view travelcobb.org on their mobile phones in an "easy-to-use, simplified version" of the website. Visitors will have the ability to explore Cobb restaurants, hotels, attractions, shopping, special local events, meeting spaces, deals, and Cobb Travel & Tourism videos, photos and social media sites on the mobile site. The Marietta Visitors Bureau's new Visit Marietta Square App for iPhone, iPad and Android users was released on Wednesday, Feb. 6. The app is free to download and allows you to explore Marietta at your fingertips. Categories include dining, attractions, lodging, events and more. “For an interactive hotel booking experience, the app offers a quick, easy and secure way to find and book hotels nearby,” said Theresa Jenkins, Executive Director. “To make the app even more inviting, we have plans to add a heritage tourism component in the near future.” Also there are plans for a “Hip Deals” section as well as individual special event apps. Cobb County Information Services staff has developed new geographic information system mobile maps for obtaining parcel and zoning information using smartphones or tablets. They are available at no cost and compatible with both Android and Apple iOS devices. The GIS mobile maps enable users to access county parcel and zoning data on-the-go. To run the mobile maps, visit the county's GIS Web page at cobbcounty.org/gis and scan the QR codes or launch the maps by clicking on the links. Staff is currently developing additional GIS mobile maps to support staff and residents. The city of Marietta has a new mobile app that lets citizens submit requests on the go and a redesigned, easy-to-use website that helps visitors find what they're looking for more easily. With the city's mobile app, citizens can report concerns, request services and get city news wherever they are. The free MyMarietta app is compatible with Android and iOS, including iPhone and iPad. The investigation of the drugs and weapons seized early Tuesday resulted in seven arrests. Afton Leak, 22, and Brandon A. King, 20, both from Marietta, are charged with numerous theft, weapons and narcotics charges. Charged with misdemeanor marijuana possession are Christian Moore, 22, of Atlanta, Jasmyne J. Pleasant, 20, of Acworth, Shaquala K. Dennis, 20, of Marietta, Qunitavious Cullins, 22, of Atlanta, and Tatravious D. Nelson, 31, of Marietta. Marietta police seized 1,100 grams of suspected marijuana, 42 tablets of Oxycodone and six guns at Autumn View Apartments, located at 1035 Franklin Rd. Officers responded to a stolen cell phone report at the Marietta Hotel on Northwest Parkway at around 3 a.m. Tuesday. The victim told police …
