Marietta Man Allegedly Grew 39 Marijuana Plants Near Park

City of White authorities in Bartow County issued 45 felony warrants in connection with the find.

A tip led to the arrest of a Marietta man who allegedly grew 39 marijuana plants near a park in the Bartow County city of White, just outside Cartersville. A May 11 call about Charles Larry Edmondson Jr., 27, opened an investigation that's led to 45 felony warrants and is still ongoing, Police Chief David King said. Edmondson allegedly grew the marijuana plants on property within 1,000 feet of James A. White Park, but the landowners are not suspected of any crimes, King said, declining to say exactly where the plants were found. Authorities found 15 stolen credit cards and evidence of a car break-in during the investigation, and Edmondson was arrested Friday, May 17, in White. Marietta Woman Arrested, Charged with Forgery

Octavia Adrienne Avey, 36 of Marietta, was arrested on May 18 and charged with forgery.

The Villa Rica Police Department was notified of a person trying to cash a forged check at Region’s Bank on May 18, according to a report from the Villa Rica Police Department. As Officer Jacob Brown arrived, the bank employees identified the person as she was trying to leave the bank. Officer Brown stopped the person and detained her as the incident was being investigated. The check was confirmed as being forged and the person trying to cash it was arrested, according to the report. The person was identified as Octavia Adrienne Avey, 36 of Marietta. She was charged with forgery in the third degree and taken to the Carroll County Jail.

Cobb Police Make Arrest in Salon Case

The landlord of the Salon Avenue Suites in Cobb has been charged with unlawful surveillance.

Cobb County Police have arrested the owner of the Salon Avenue Suites and charged him with unlawful surveillance. The camera was discovered in a light in Suite 110 of the salon on Sandy Plains Road, according to Cobb County Police Sgt. Dana Pierce. According to 11 Alive News, women typically received Brazilian wax treatments within the suite in question. It is currently not know where the images the camera may have captured have been stored, as it appears the owner of the camera successfully made off with the data before the police arrived. According to WSB-TV, police identified the landlord of the spa as Mark Allen Storch. During the initial investigations in July, police seized Storch's Porsche SUV as evidence. Jaywalking Mom Arrested on Eluding Police Charge

The Cobb woman accused of vehicular homicide in the 2010 death of her son as he crossed Austell Road now faces four unrelated misdemeanor charges.

Raquel Nelson, who came into the national spotlight after her 4-year-old son was struck and killed while crossing the street in 2010, was arrested Friday by Cobb Police on four unrelated charges. The Marietta resident was taken into custody in the 200 block of Giibbs Street, jail records show. The four charges, all misdemeanors, are fleeing or attempting to elude a police officer, affixing of materials which reduce light transmission through windows or windshield, speeding, and expired/no tag. She made her $1,300 bond Saturday, records show. Patch has contacted Cobb police about the arrest and will provide further details when they are available.
