Lockheed Martin delivered an MC-130J Commando II to Cannon Air Force Base, N.M. from Marietta on Feb. 22. Aircraft 5714 is the 15th of 27 MC-130Js to be assigned to the Air Force Special Operations Command since initial contract award in 2008. The Commando II supports such missions as in-flight refueling, infiltration/exfiltration and aerial delivery and resupply of special operations forces.

Aircraft 5710 is the twelfth of 27 MC-130Js to be assigned to the Air Force Special Operations Command. The squadron uses the Commando II on missions such as in-flight refueling, infiltration/exfiltration, and aerial delivery and resupply of special operations forces. The first MC-130J Commando II that will be converted to a new AC-130J gunship made its first flight in Marietta last week. The MC-130J will have a Precision Strike Package installed, then will fly as a gunship in early 2014. The total requirement for new AC-130J gunships is 37.

An HC-130J Combat King II took off for Davis-Monthan Air Force Base, Ariz. from the Lockheed Martin facilities in Marietta on Dec. 5. Aircraft number 5709 is the sixth of 15 HC-130Js to be delivered to the U.S. Air Force’s Air Combat Command. Maj. Gen. Timothy Zadalis, Director of Intelligence, Operations and Nuclear Integration, Headquarters Air Education and Training Command, Randolph Air Force Base, Texas, flew the aircraft to Davis-Monthan AFB.

Aircraft number 5708 is the fifth of 15 HC-130Js to be delivered to the U.S. Air Force’s Air Combat Command. The HC-130J replaces the HC-130P/N as the only dedicated fixed-wing personnel recovery platform in the Air Force inventory. Its mission is to rapidly deploy to conduct recovery operations to include airdrop, airland, helicopter air-to-air refueling, and forward area ground refueling missions.

Members of the U.S. Navy Flight Demonstration Squadron, the Blue Angels, visited the Lockheed Martin Aeronautics Co., site in Marietta on Monday to pick up two pallets of toys to deliver to children impacted by Hurricane Sandy in New York and New Jersey. The toys were loaded into the Blue Angels’ C-130 Hercules cargo plane (known as “Fat Albert”) that was built in Marietta and delivered to Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst, N.J. The Blue Angels collected more than 900 toys here, which were donated by employees and Lockheed Martin. About half of these toys are science, technology, engineering and math (STEM)-focused in support Lockheed Martin’s corporate philanthropy commitment to STEM education outreach. The first C-130J Super Hercules for the Sultanate of Oman was formally accepted at ceremonies, Aug. 30, at Lockheed Martin’s Marietta facility. This is the first of three C-130Js on order for Oman and is scheduled for delivery later this year. The new C-130J will be used to support internal country operations where its ability to operate out of remote austere airstrips will be invaluable.
The Iraqi Air Force intends to use the C-130J for intra-theater support of its troops and humanitarian relief operations in various locations.

The first of six C-130J Super Hercules for the Iraqi Air Force recently completed its first flight in Marietta. The Iraqi Air Force intends to use the C-130J for intra-theater support of its troops and humanitarian relief operations in various locations. These new transport aircraft will provide Iraq with the ability to operate seamlessly with U.S., NATO and coalition forces. The first C-130J for Iraq is scheduled for delivery later this year.
