Don't throw out that Christmas Tree. Bring one for the Chipper! Through Saturday, Keep Cobb Beautiful is sponsoring "Bring One for the Chipper," free tree-recycling drop offs at specified locations, including: Christmas trees can be recycled to create fuel, mulch, habitats for wildlife and other useful materials. After Jan. 8, free mulch will be provided to Cobb citizens at Cobb Parks chipper locations as well as at Davey Trees (770-451-7911.) Don't know what to do with your Christmas tree? Marietta parks and Home Depot locations will accept Christmas trees for recycling.
After the holiday season is over, residents are encouraged to help the environment by recycling their Christmas trees. Recycling trees makes mulch, fuel, wildlife habitats and other useful material. Keep Cobb Beautiful will sponsor free recycling drop-offs. Trees will only be accepted Saturday, Jan. 7, at select Home Depot locations throughout Cobb. For a list of those locations, visit cobbcounty.org/kcb. County Parks and Recreation specified locations will accept drop-offs Dec. 26-Jan. 7. These facilities are: Cobb Parks chipper locations and Davey Trees will have free mulch available to residents after Jan. 7. For more information, visit cobbcounty.org/kcb or call 770-528-1135.

Campus Life sponsored a Christmas tree decorating contest on the Marietta and North Metro Chattahoochee Technical College campus locations. Campus organizations were invited to decorate a tree that provided a vision of what the organization represents. The 10 decorated trees were judged on aesthetic value, representation of the organization's mission and use of creativity in tree design. Judging was done by a three to six person committee on each campus. Student, faculty and staff votes were tallied. On the Marietta campus, the trees decorated by Public Safety Club students was deemed best in class. On the North Metro campus, the tree decorated by Radiography students was deemed best in class by ballot vote and judging team. A pizza party …

The Marietta FedEx Ground hub increased its personnel by 30 percent for the holiday season. Over 200,000 items were processed on Monday.
FedEx facilities were buzzing Monday, the company's busiest day of the year, moving almost double its daily average volume. Approximately 17 million shipments were moved by FedEx Monday. FedEx added 20,000 seasonal positions at FedEx Ground, FedEx Home Delivery and FedEx SmartPost to handle the holiday rush and is offering additional shifts to current team members working at facilities around the country. The Marietta FedEx Ground hub increased its personnel by 30 percent for the holiday season. Over 200,000 items were processed on Monday. Each scanner at the facility can scan 7,500 packages in an hour, a total of 30,000 packages each hour for the entire factory.
