Students, faculty and alumni of Life and Southern Polytechnic State universities, residents, and business and property owners are invited to comment on the draft plan for the Marietta University Enhancement Livable Centers Initiative study area. Attendees will have an opportunity to review recommendations for transportation and connectivity improvements, land use changes, a multi-use trail and a new university center. The purpose of the study is to create a redevelopment plan for Cobb Parkway and South Marietta Parkway, increase visibility of Life and Southern Polytechnic State universities, and better connect the universities with the surrounding community. by city of Marietta Marietta Power won an award at the 13th annual Public Power Lineworkers Rodeo, held in Kissimmee, Fla. The awards honor lineworkers' expertise, and the events are judged based upon safety, work practices, neatness, ability, equipment handling and speed. There are two levels of competition within the rodeos -- journeyman and apprentice. The journeyman teams consist of three members -- two climbers and a ground person -- and can include an optional alternate. A qualified journeyman has more than four years of experience within the electric utility trade. An apprentice lineworker has four or fewer years of experience. The city of Marietta celebrated Black History Month by honoring Kennesaw State University voice and music literature professor Oral Moses for his accomplishments and contributions to the community at a city council meeting on March 6. A member of KSU's voice faculty since 1984, Moses is a bass baritone and performs concert works, oratorio, recitals and a variety of art songs with an emphasis on vocal works by African-American composers regularly throughout the United States and Europe, according to a press release from the city of Marietta. “When I first came to KSU, it was a very sparse campus, with only about six or seven buildings and less than 5,000 students," Moses said in a Kennesaw State University press release.
