Cobb Fire To The Rescue—of Fellow Firefighers [VIDEO]

The West Hamilton Beach Volunteer Fire Department in New York state will soon receive a fire truck donated Wednesday by Cobb County Fire and Emergency Services.

A former Cobb County fire truck will have a new home in New York later this month. Officials from Cobb County Fire and Emergency Services held Wednesday morning a ceremony that saw the department donating a surplus fire engine—a 1992 Pierce Arrow Red Pumper with 177,292 miles on it—to the West Hamilton Beach Volunteer Fire Department, which is based in Howard Beach, N.Y. Apply to Be a Firefighter

Cobb County will be offering tests for the open positions Jan. 10-13.

Was firefighter one of your dream jobs when you were a child? Here’s your chance to make your dream come true. Cobb County Fire & Emergency Services will be offering written exams for entry-level firefighters Jan. 10-13, according to a county news release. The position has a starting annual salary of $38,355 and includes health and dental coverage, a retirement plan, life insurance, long-term disability insurance, deferred compensation, and holiday and sick leave. Applications will be accepted through Dec. 23. To apply, you must be 18 or older by the test dates and have a valid driver’s license. Photo IDs will be checked the day of the test.
