A Sandy Springs lawyer was arrested Thursday and charged with smuggling contraband into the Cobb County jail to trade for sex with inmates. Michael Stuart Winner, 45, now is an inmate himself, held in the Cobb jail on $10,000 bond while facing eight felony charges: four counts of conspiracy to commit a crime; three counts of trading with inmates without the warden’s consent; and one count of using a communication facility to commit a drug felony. He was arrested Thursday afternoon outside his home in the 3200 block of Santa Fe Parkway in Sandy Springs, Cobb County Sheriff’s Office booking records show. A 19-year-old woman was critically injured in the September wreck in Marietta.
An Cobb teenager turned herself in Monday night to face serious charges from a rollover crash in Marietta in September. Hannah Caitlin O’Donnell, 19, of the 1200 block of Manor Crest Court is being held in lieu of $50,000 bond, according to Cobb County jail records. O’Donnell was driving a white 2006 Nissan 350Z when she lost control on the ramp to Interstate 75 northbound from the Canton Road Connector the night of Sept. 21, The Marietta Daily Journal reported at the time, citing Marietta police. A Marietta man is being held in the Cobb County jail without bond on charges that he hit and denied food to his cancer-stricken father, continuing a history of criminal abuse against the senior citizen. Gregory Horn, 40, was living in his parents’ home in the 1100 block of South Atlanta Road when he was arrested there Monday evening, according to jail booking records. He is accused of not letting his father have food, hitting his father and cutting a phone cord so the 70-year-old couldn’t call for help, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported.
