Here are the latest updates on road work being done around Marietta and Cobb County, according to the Cobb Department of Transportation. Expect periodic lane closures from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. between Ballard Drive to Dallas Highway (SR 120) Starting May 24, Cobb DOT will begin work replacing the westbound bridge on New Chastain Road over Noonday Creek. This will result in closing the westbound lanes for four months or longer. Westbound traffic will be detoured to the eastbound bridge, which will provide one lane in each direction during construction. Crews will resurface 10 miles of I-285 between Paces Ferry Road in Cobb County and Ashford Dunwoody Road in DeKalb County. Most work will take place nights and weekends. Last week Cobb County DOT Director Faye DiMassimo was recognized as the Woman of the Year by the Women's Transportation Seminar's Atlanta Chapter. The award was announced at their Annual Scholarship Luncheon at the Georgia Aquarium. The Woman of the Year Award is presented to honor a person, not someone within the chapter, who is an outstanding role model in transportation.
This week in Cobb County part of Barnes Drive will be closed; Hicks Road sidewalk construction and Floyd Road, Lower Roswell Road, Barrett Parkway and Jamerson Road/Wigley Road construction mean periodic lane closures.
