Colleges Using Online Chat Site to Reach Students

Georgia colleges are among those using CollegeWeekLive. It bills itself as the 'world's largest college fair.'

College recruiting fairs: In the 21st century, who needs a building? The University of Georgia, Georgia State and Emory University are among the Georgia-based universities using CollegeWeekLive, which bills itself as the "world's largest college fair." Nationally, Yale University and the U.S. Military Academy at West Point use the online service, which is free to prospective students. The Los Angeles Times reported that on CollegeWeekLive, students create a free account and are able to visit chat rooms for the 300 or so colleges that use the site. Students can give their name or stay anonymous, and they can browse videos and other information on each college's specific site. For teens, the option of anonymity online gives them the freedom …

Visit 300 Colleges Without Leaving Home

CollegeWeekLive hosts a virtual college fair Wednesday and Thursday.

CollegeWeekLive is holding what it calls the world's largest virtual college fair this week with more than 300 colleges participating. The University of West Georgia is participating in its first virtual college fair Wednesday and Thursday. It's one of nine Georgia colleges participating. The fair offers prospective students information and a chance at a $1,000 scholarship. Students can learn more about UWG and the other schools during chats all day. Live chats will be devoted to answering questions about the admissions process, program information and student life. Marietta Natives in College

Erica Coburn from Marietta is a junior this fall at Pace University, majoring in Communication Studies while Rachel Evans of Marietta recently graduated from the Savannah College of Art and Design.

Erica Coburn from Marietta is a junior this fall at Pace University's New York City campus and has decided to major in Communication Studies. Pace University is recognized for professionally-oriented programs in business, law, arts and sciences, information technology, education and nursing, with a core curriculum based in the liberal arts. This September Pace University enrolled 2,100 new undergraduate students at its campuses in New York City and Westchester County, New York. Businessweek ranked Pace among the top 50 colleges and universities in the United States in 2011 for graduates with the highest earning potential. Rachel Evans of Marietta recently graduated from the Savannah College of Art and Design, earning an MFA in Painting. …
