Man Killed in Three-Car Collision on South Cobb Drive

The Cobb County Police Department is investigating a fatal collision that occurred on South Cobb Drive near Walker Street in Marietta on Tuesday.

The Cobb County Police Department is investigating a fatal collision that occurred on South Cobb Drive near Walker Street in Marietta on Tuesday. Preliminary information from investigators indicates that the driver of a maroon 2009 Kia Spectra was traveling east on South Cobb Drive. At the same time the driver of a white 2010 Lexus RX350 and the driver of a blue 2008 Chrysler PT Cruiser were traveling west on South Cobb Drive, Cobb Police report. The driver of the Kia entered the westbound travel lanes of South Cobb Drive and collided with the Lexus. Woman Dies After Crash in Marietta

Andrea Brantley of Smyrna has died from injuries caused by a head-on crash in September in Marietta.

Cobb police were informed Tuesday by the Cobb Medical Examiner's Office that Andrea Brantley of Smyrna has died from injuries caused by a head-on crash in September in Marietta.  Brantley, 69, was driving west Sept. 18 in a 2012 Toyota Camry on Ridge Road when she collided with a 1999 Mercedes traveling east, Cobb police said. She was taken to Emory Adventist Hospital. The driver of the Mercedes, 26-year-old Nicholas Weinberg of Powder Springs, said at the time that he would seek medical treatment on his own. Charges aren’t expected in the crash, police said. Anyone with further information is asked to call investigators at 770-499-3987. Bicyclist Struck by Car at Canton, Piedmont Intersection

A bicyclist was hit by a car near the intersection of Canton Road and Piedmont Road Wednesday morning, Fox Atlanta and 11 Alive report.  There's no word on how badly the bicyclist was hurt, but multiple lanes of Canton Road were blocked and traffic was delayed. A recent story in Decatur-Avondale Estates Patch highlighted the problem with cycling safety, noting that cyclist Dave Mathews, who was injured in a bad bike wreck 18 months ago, has made cycling safety an issue. His passion on the subject was fueled after a pickup struck and killed cyclist Paul Taylor and authorities announced last week nobody will be prosecuted. I follow all traffic rules and wait my turn behind cars at traffic lights and stop signs. It's frustrating as a casual cyclist to have cars pass me as close as they can come trying to teach me a lesson. I share the road both as a driver and a cyclist. Teen Dies from Crash Injuries

Ryan Aschenbach, 18, died on Sunday.

A two-vehicle crash Saturday evening on Trickum Road near its intersection with Netherstone Drive killed one person and injured three others. According to a news release from the Cobb County Police Department, a blue 2006 Volvo S40 driven by 18-year-old Ryan Aschenbach of Marietta, was traveling north on Trickum Road. Aschenbach lost control of the vehicle, crossed over the double yellow lines and entered the southbound travel lane, where the Volvo collided with a gold 1998 Lexus GS400, driven by 52-year-old Joanne Green of Roswell. Officials said the reason for Aschenbach losing control of the Volvo is unknown.  Aschenbach was transported to Wellstar Kennestone Hospital for treatment and died from his injuries on Sunday. Marietta Marine Killed in Helicopter Collision

Seven U.S. Marines were killed in a helicopter collision during a nighttime training exercise on the outskirts of Marine Corps Air Station Yuma, AR, on Wednesday. Lance Cpl. Corey A. Little, 25, who attended Southern Polytechnic State University, was among the dead, 10 News reported. There were no survivors of the two-helicopter collision, and the crash remains under investigation, Camp Pendleton Patch reports. Little studied construction management at SPSU before joining the Marines in 2009, the Atalanta Journal-Constitution and U-T San Diego say.
