The percentage of Marietta City Schools eighth graders meeting and exceeding standards increased from 2012 and surpassed the state and Metro area averages on the 2013 Georgia Eighth Grade Writing Assessment.
The percentage of Marietta City Schools eighth graders meeting and exceeding standards (87 percent) increased by eleven percentage points from 2012 and surpassed the state (82 percent) and Metro area averages (86 percent) on the 2013 Georgia Eighth Grade Writing Assessment (EGWA). Marietta’s White student population exceeded the state average by 11 percentage points (98 percent meeting/exceeding), and Black students exceeded the state average by 12 percentage points (87 percent meeting/exceeding). Marietta City Schools (MCS) Superintendent Emily Lembeck will host “Coffee Talk”—a community dialogue, at 7 p.m., Monday, Jan. 14, at Hickory Hills Elementary School. “Coffee Talk” is free and open to the public. “It is important to provide regular opportunities throughout the school year where I can share district accomplishments, new strategic initiatives and our progress overall,” said Superintendent Lembeck. “Continuing dialogue with the community, parents and guardians of our students has been one of my goals since becoming Superintendent. Marietta City Schools (MCS) Superintendent, Dr. Emily Lembeck, will host Community Connections on Tuesday, Oct. 23 at 7 p.m. The event at the YELLS After-school site (Building 2800) of Woodlands Park Apartments located at 861 Franklin Road in Marietta is free and open to the public.
