One Fatality Confirmed in I-285 Wreck in Cobb

All eastbound lanes of I-285 were closed for several hours at the Powers Ferry Road overpass after an accident near I-75.

A three-vehicle accident on Interstate 285 eastbound just west of the Chattahoochee River shut down all lanes of traffic for several hours Thursday night. A semi tractor trailer, a small pickup truck and a passenger car were involved in the accident, but the circumstances of the accident are still under investigation, said Cobb Police Sgt. Dana Pierce. Pierce confirmed one fatality, a passenger in the pickup. The driver has been taken to the hospital, but Pierce had no updates on his condition. The accident occurred at 285 and Powers Ferry Road. Acworth Man Killed in Hit and Run

Officials are seeking your help with a fatal hit and run that killed an Acworth man in Cherokee County.

Teen Dies from Crash Injuries

Ryan Aschenbach, 18, died on Sunday.

A two-vehicle crash Saturday evening on Trickum Road near its intersection with Netherstone Drive killed one person and injured three others. According to a news release from the Cobb County Police Department, a blue 2006 Volvo S40 driven by 18-year-old Ryan Aschenbach of Marietta, was traveling north on Trickum Road. Aschenbach lost control of the vehicle, crossed over the double yellow lines and entered the southbound travel lane, where the Volvo collided with a gold 1998 Lexus GS400, driven by 52-year-old Joanne Green of Roswell. Officials said the reason for Aschenbach losing control of the Volvo is unknown.  Aschenbach was transported to Wellstar Kennestone Hospital for treatment and died from his injuries on Sunday. Motorcyclist Dies After Cobb Crash

No charges are expected in the head-on collision south of Marietta on March 4.

Atlanta motorcyclist Leonard Daggett has died from injuries he suffered in a head-on collision south of Marietta last week. The 30-year-old was riding a yellow 2000 Honda CVR929 east on Hurt Road around a curve at Old Tennessee Road about 3:30 p.m. Sunday, March 4, when he crossed the center line and slammed into a blue 2000 Honda CR-V, Cobb County police spokesman Sgt. Dana Pierce reported in a news release today. Daggett died of his injuries Friday at WellStar Kennestone Hospital. Police do not know why Daggett crossed the double yellow line, but they believe that excessive speed played a role. Woman Fatally Struck by Parked Car

The 74-year-old was standing by the curb when a pickup truck knocked the vehicle into her Friday in Marietta.

The driver of the GMC Sierra, William Webb, has been charged with reckless driving and vehicular homicide in the second degree, which are both misdemeanors. Webb turned himself into police Monday afternoon and was processed at the Cobb County Adult Detention Center. Bond for Webb was set at $3,500. According to jail booking records, Webb now lives in East Cobb in the 1600 block of Roswell Road. A 74-year-old woman died this morning after being struck by a parked car near WellStar Kennestone Hospital on Friday afternoon. Joanne Legg of Commerce was standing next to a Ford Freestyle crossover vehicle parked along the curb on Church Street when a GMC Sierra pickup truck hit the Ford and knocked it into her just after 4:30 p.m. Legg died from …

Update: Woman Dies After Crash

A Marietta man also was injured, and a Powder Springs truck driver is likely to be charged in Tuesday's wreck on Dallas Highway at West Sandtown Road.

A woman injured in Tuesday's three-car accident on Dallas Highway at West Sandtown Road died at WellStar Kennestone Hospital. Trisha M. Miller of Dallas and Louis R. Duckwall Jr. of Marietta were taken to Kennestone after the accident, which involved their two cars and a dump truck driven by Jason Chatham, 34, of Powder Springs, according to a press release issued by the Cobb County Police Department. Miller died of injuries sustained from the accident. Chatham was not injured. The white 1987 Peterbuilt dump truck was traveling eastbound on Dallas Highway just west of the West Sandtown Road intersection. Driving a black 2011 Kia Soul, Miller, 38, was stopped at a red light on West Sandtown Road, waiting to turn left onto westbound Dallas …
