'Two-Fur-One' Adoptions at Good Mews

The East Cobb shelter has specials on pairs of cats in celebration of Valentine's Day.

Cobb-based Good Mews Animal Foundation, a non-profit, no-kill cat shelter, announces special “two-fur-one” adoption fees throughout the month of February. In celebration of Valentine’s Day, bonded/mandatory pairs of adoptable cats will be available for a special “love bird” rate of $114.00 for the pair. Adopters may also form their own pair of cats for twice the love and a special rate of $125.00 for the pair. Each adopted pair will come with a goody bag. Cats bond with each other in the same way as humans, so separating a bonded pair can cause depression and often lead to health and behavioral problems. Having a friend in a new place can help cats happily transition to their forever home, but there are other benefits for adopters, too. …

Angel Tree Supports Marietta Rescue Animals

Marietta's Red Bandanna store is participating in a wishlist program for local rescue pets. The rescues sponsored generally use the donations to get through the first couple of months of the new year.

This year, Red Bandanna Pet Food is bringing back the Angel Tree bigger and better than ever. The Angel Tree is a “wish list” of items local rescue pets need this season. The rescues sponsored by Red Bandanna generally use the Angel Tree donations to get through the first couple of months of the new year, when monetary donations tend to drop off. Rescues wish for everything from food and treats to toys and shampoo. According to Dylan Yellowlees, Social Media and Graphics Manager for Red Bandanna, “This year’s Angel Tree will work just like it has in the past. Customers just pick an Angel while doing their regular shopping and buy what that pet is wishing for this holiday season. We collect the gifts and present them to the rescues at the …

Good Mews in Running for $50k Video

A local production company is running a contest to provide a deserving nonprofit with a professional video.

Good Mews, the Cobb area no-kill cat shelter, needs your help in a competition that could earn the nonprofit a $50,000 professionally produced video. Atlanta production house Encylcomedia is offering to produce a video for one of three worthy nonprofit organizations that garner the most votes in an online poll. A Good Mews volunteer noticed the contest and the shelter quickly became one of 27 nonprofits competing for the top three spots in the voting.  Winning the contest is crucial for Good Mews, which is looking for avenues to finance the renovations of building planned to be used as their new cat shelter starting next year. The shelter will be twice as large as the current facility and allow Good Mews to house more cats, which will take…
