Frugal Family: Let’s Garden

Great deals on seeds, plants and gardening supplies are popping up everywhere.

For gardeners of both flowers and vegetables, great deals on seeds, plants and supplies are “popping up” everywhere. While stores like Home Depot and Lowe’s are the stores most people think of when they need gardening supplies, there are some surprisingly great deals in stores you wouldn’t ordinarily think of. This week Frugal Family found great deals from five interesting resources: Big Lots, Aldi Foods, Marietta Feed and Seed, Dollar Tree and local thrift stores. 1) Big Lots: Remember when those Topsy Turvy Upside Down Tomato Planters kits came out a few years ago for $19.99? They can be found at Big Lots for $2.50. Those same kits for peppers and hummingbird-attracting plants are $1. You have to buy the soil and plants. These planters …

The motto could be used to describe the way Shayla Jones, the MPLC's site coordinator, operates. "She believes in the kids even when they don't believe in themselves," said Tammie Roach, principal at the MPLC. "Ms. Jones is a natural educator. She has a natural instinct when it comes to young people." PLCs serve as one of many dropout prevention strategies created by Communities in Schools, the oldest non-profit …

I've encountered a few very negative experiences in the Goodwill Store on Shallowford Road, and I will write to the corporate office about them ! One of the persons who works there is rude and has a bad attitude. She acts like she doesn't want to help the customer, as if she has better things to do than help the customer. One second she is terribly rude, then she changes her attitude and she …   more ›
