Cobb Fire To The Rescue—of Fellow Firefighers [VIDEO]

The West Hamilton Beach Volunteer Fire Department in New York state will soon receive a fire truck donated Wednesday by Cobb County Fire and Emergency Services.

A former Cobb County fire truck will have a new home in New York later this month. Officials from Cobb County Fire and Emergency Services held Wednesday morning a ceremony that saw the department donating a surplus fire engine—a 1992 Pierce Arrow Red Pumper with 177,292 miles on it—to the West Hamilton Beach Volunteer Fire Department, which is based in Howard Beach, N.Y. 12-12-12 Concert to Benefit Hurricane Sandy Victims

Some of the biggest names in music will play at a benefit concert on Wednesday. All proceeds will go to Hurricane Sandy victims, via the Robin Hood Foundation.

Huge names in music are lending their talents to Hurricane Sandy relief efforts at the “12-12-12” concert on Wednesday, Dec. 12. Every penny sold from ticket sales will go directly to Sandy victims through the Robin Hood Relief Fund, which provides material, money and aid to local organizations that are serving families and individuals in the regions hardest hit by the storm, including over 200 Patch towns in New Jersey, Connecticut and Long Island. The all-star lineup includes Bon Jovi, Eric Clapton, Dave Grohl, Billy Joel, Alicia Keys, Chris Martin, Bruce Springsteen & the E Street Band, Eddie Vedder, Roger Waters, Kanye West, The Who and Paul McCartney, with other artists to be announced. Santa's Got a New Reindeer and It Answers to Hercules

Members of the Blue Angels visited Lockheed Martin in Marietta on Monday to pick up two pallets of toys to deliver to children impacted by Hurricane Sandy in New York and New Jersey.

Members of the U.S. Navy Flight Demonstration Squadron, the Blue Angels, visited the Lockheed Martin Aeronautics Co., site in Marietta on Monday to pick up two pallets of toys to deliver to children impacted by Hurricane Sandy in New York and New Jersey. The toys were loaded into the Blue Angels’ C-130 Hercules cargo plane (known as “Fat Albert”) that was built in Marietta and delivered to Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst, N.J. The Blue Angels collected more than 900 toys here, which were donated by employees and Lockheed Martin. About half of these toys are science, technology, engineering and math (STEM)-focused in support Lockheed Martin’s corporate philanthropy commitment to STEM education outreach. A hurricane, like Sandy, doesn’t have to make landfall on the coast to disrupt your life. Inland hazards associated include strong winds that down trees and power lines, heavy rain, flooding and tornadoes.

As people along the East Coast brace for Hurricane Sandy’s landfall this evening, many Georgians are likely sighing in relief for being spared from the massive storm. But what if Sandy had struck here? Would Georgia residents have been ready? A hurricane doesn’t have to make landfall on the coast to disrupt your life. Inland hazards associated with tropical storms and hurricanes include strong winds that down trees and power lines, heavy rain, flooding and tornadoes.
