Art in the Park: Creating Memories One Brush Stroke at a Time

The Labor Day weekend juried art show will spotlight 150 artists and include paintings, photography, pottery, graphics, sculptures, jewelry and more. Kids will create puppets, noise shakers, sand art creations, mosaic art and a Marietta Cityscape.

The 26th Annual Art in the Park festival is coming to Marietta Square Sept. 1 through 3, Labor Day weekend. This fine art extravaganza is  proud to be a Top 20 Event by Southeast Tourism Society since 2007. The juried fine art show will spotlight 150 artists whose works include paintings, photography, pottery, graphics, sculptures, jewelry and much more. Artists representing 16 states will display and sell their wares in Glover Park. Back by popular demand is the Interactive Art Alley full of many wonderful and free make and take art stations, which guest’s young and old can discover the hidden artist within. Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over

In Georgia, we experienced 298 alcohol-related fatalities on roads in 2010. That represents one quarter of all traffic death.

The Governor’s Office of Highway Safety (GOHS) has launched its zero tolerance campaign on impaired driving for the Labor Day weekend.  This campaign will go through the Labor Day weekend and will be focused on ensuring that the roadways are safe from impaired drivers. Why such focus on drunk drivers? Because despite all 50 states outlawing driving with a blood alcohol concentration (BAC) of .08 or more, 2010 still saw more than 10,000 people die in crashes involving an impaired driver, according to Marietta Police. In Georgia, we experienced 298 alcohol-related fatalities on roads in 2010. That represents one quarter of all traffic deaths, Marietta Police said. Across the country in 2010, 147 people were killed in alcohol-related crashes …
