Area Closures, Detours and Road Work Updates

Check out the latest updates on road constructions, delays and detours around Cobb County.

Here are the latest updates on road work being done around Cobb County, according to Commissioners Bob Ott, Helen Goreham, JoAnn Birrell and Lisa Cupid. Davidson Road to Willow Point Pkwy Willow Point Pkwy to Timber Ridge Road Karls Gate Drive to Lake Fjord Pass GDOT I-285 Top-End Resurfacing Project Expect delays as Georgia DOT continues working on a $56 million resurfacing project on I-285. Crews will resurface 10 miles of I-285 between Paces Ferry Road in Cobb County and Ashford Dunwoody Road in DeKalb County. Most work will take place nights and weekends. Marietta, Cobb County Road Work, Nov. 5-9

Floyd, Hicks, Jamerson, Wigley, Cooper Lake, King Springs and Mars Hills Road, Barrett Parkway and Cumberland Parkway are among the Cobb County Road being worked on this week.

Take a look at the Cobb County road work being done from Monday, Nov. 5 through Friday, Nov. 9, according to Cobb County Commissioners Bob Ott, JoAnn Birrell, Woody Thompson and Helen Goreham. Don’t forget to tell us when you spot road work/traffic. Clay Road to Hicks Road: Expect periodic lane closures from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. with one lane remaining open at all times. There will be no lane closures on Tuesday, Nov. 6, for the General Election. Frontier Trail to Floyd Oaks Drive: Expect periodic lane closures from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. with one lane remaining open at all times. Marietta, Cobb County Road Work, Oct. 15 to 19

Take a look at Church Street resurfacing, Floyd Road and Lower Roswell Road construction, Hicks Road sidewalk work, Laramie Drive closures and other road work being done in Marietta and Cobb County.

Here are the road work updates for Oct. 15 through Oct. 19 from Commissioner Woody Thompson, Commissioner Bob Ott, Commissioner JoAnn Birrell and Commissioner Helen Goreham. Take a look at the road work being done around Marietta and Cobb Oct. 8 through Oct. 12, including Jamerson, Roswell, Bishop Lake, Aviation, Laramie and Floyd Roads, and Brookwood and Busbee Drives.

Here is a look at the road work being done around Cobb this week, Oct. 8 through Oct. 12, according to Commissioner JoAnn Birrell. Canton Road to Trickum Road: This section of construction is substantially complete. The contractor will be fine grading, grassing and working on punchlist items. Trickum Road to Jims Road: No lane closures expected between Trickum Road and Jims Road. The contractor will be fine grading and grassing shoulders. Jims Road to Sandy Plains Road: Expect periodic lane closures from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Wigley Road and Sandy Plains Road. The following road work will be in progress this week, according to Commissioner Helen Goreham: Barrett Parkway Construction The contractor will install storm drainage pipe and perform grading operations with lane closures in both directions on Barrett Pkwy. Expect delays Tuesday, Sept. 4 through Friday, Sept. 7. The extended lane closures in the “off-peak” direction (Southbound in the morning and Northbound in the evening) will continue. Street Detours Planned for Railroad Maintenance in Marietta

Polk Street, Marble Mill Road and East Dixie Avenue are among the roads being closed in Marietta at railroad crossings for scheduled maintenance.

CSX Railroad will temporarily close the following streets all day for three or four days at their railroad crossings for scheduled maintenance. CSX performs maintenance of the crossings every two to five years to smooth and improve the efficiency of the tracks for vehicles and trains.
