Chicken and the Egg: Upscale Dining with a Farmhouse Feel

This Whitlock Avenue restaurant offers delicious food and great service.

I was looking for somewhere to eat in Marietta and thought I had found a really cool place - until I realized they didn't have anything vegetarian on the menu and couldn't do anything to accomodate my dietary restriction. Since I was hungry and it was lunch time, my husband and I decided to try out Chicken and the Egg because, well, it was close. And, it had a really cool name. Let me tell you, it was the best mistake I have ever made. We live in Cartersville, but we've already said we will make the drive to Marietta to eat here again. And again. It was that good. Service: We were greeted by a very friendly hostess who took us right to a table, which I was pleasantly surprised by since it was high noon. Our server was fantastic. She came …

Marietta Celebrates the Fourth of July

Thousands flocked to Marietta to celebrate Independence Day.

In 1776, a committee was formed to write the Declaration of Independence. Thomas Jefferson, Benjamin Franklin, Philip Livingston, John Adams and Roger Sherman all collaborated together to write the statement, with Thomas Jefferson editing the final draft to put before the Continental Congress of the time. It was passed on July 4th, 1776. Communities, like history-rich Marietta, come together each year to celebrate the freedoms and rights that were written for us all, and to pay our respect and honor to those that have fought and fight for our Freedoms and provide us with safety. This year’s parade celebrated a nation rich with a diversity of people, honoring the United States of America on such a historical day.
