Marietta Woman Killed Crossing South Cobb Drive

The pedestrian, Jennie Coston of Marietta, did not cross the roadway in the provided crosswalk.

A pedestrian was struck by a 2000 Toyota Corolla while she was attempting to cross South Cobb Drive near Appleton Drive on Sunday, according to Cobb Police. The pedestrian, Jennie Coston of Marietta, did not cross the roadway in the provided crosswalk, Police said. The driver of the 2000 Toyota Corolla has been identified as 20-year-old Katie Trivette of Lawrenceville. Coston, 55, was transported by ground to WellStar Kennestone Hospital in critical condition. On Monday, Cobb Police were notified that Coston died as a result of the injuries she sustained in the collision.  No charges are expected to be filed in this investigation. Another Pedestrian Hit Crossing Road

A man suffered serious injuries and faces charges in Marietta.

It happened again Saturday: Someone tried to cross a major Marietta road outside a crosswalk and was hit by a car. An unidentified man suffered serious injuries shortly after 6:30 p.m. when he walked across Atlanta Road south of Old Clay Street and was struck by a red 1991 Ford Mustang, Marietta police said. Ricas Cook, 29, of Marietta was driving the Mustang. The man crossing the street was taken to WellStar Kennestone Hospital. The Selective Traffic Enforcement Program continues to investigate, but charges are pending against the pedestrian. Police ask anyone with information about what happened to contact Officer Justin Rutland at 770-794-5364.
