In 1947, Tennessee Williams' A Streetcar Named Desire was introduced on Broadway. A Streetcar Named Desire went on to become a major sensation on Broadway and in Hollywood. Set in the steamy French Quarter of New Orleans, the play follows the nervous adventures of a faded Southern belle, Blanche DuBois. This journey of delicate indiscretions, lost dreams and brutish actions leads Blanche to madness, aided by her handsome, masculine brother-in-law, Stanley Kowalski. Out of Box Theatre closes its first season at The Alley Stage on Marietta Square with One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest. "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest pits Randle Patrick McMurphy (a convict who has feigned psychosis so that he can spend the final months of his sentence at a mental institution) against Nurse Ratched (the icy head nurse of the ward), who believes that rules must be followed without exception. The public is invited to be Marietta High School's guest and catch their spring musical "Beauty and the Beast". The MHS Drama production of “Beauty and the Beast" is opening March 7 at the Marietta High School Black Box Theater at 1171 Whitlock Ave. Tickets are $15 and are limited, and can be purchased online at bluedeviltheatre.com. Showtimes: There will be souvenirs and a few unique items for purchase in the concessions. You can join the cast of "Beauty and the Beast" for breakfast at the IHOP on Dallas Highway on Saturday, March 9 from 9 a.m. to noon.

This holiday season, audiences can enjoy the uplifting story of the Tony Award nominated musical Irving Berlin's "White Christmas." Presented by Atlanta Lyric Theatre, the stage reinvention of the beloved classic film will play at the Earl Smith Strand Theatre (117 N. Park Sq., Marietta) from Dec. 7 through Dec. 23.
