Weekend Spotlight: Zombies Walk for a Cause [VIDEO]

Head to Marietta Square and join the walking dead to benefit MUST Ministries on Saturday.

This week's Patch Weekend Spotlight video features Marietta Zombie Walk.  The event takes place this Saturday in Marietta Square, and benefits MUST Ministries. The Infestation (gathering) starts at 5 p.m. in Glover Park and the Feeding (Zombie Walk) starts at 6 p.m. Carnival of Doom, in association with Marietta.com, The Strand, Zenith Design Group and Johnnie MacCracken’s Celtic Pub are sponsoring the event. This weekend in Marietta—'Strandemonioum' a rock and roll Halloween special, Making Strides Against Breast Cancer 5K, Marietta Zombie Walk and Cobb Fall Festival of Fun.

1. Friday, Oct. 5: Final First Friday Art Walk: The final Art Walk of the season takes place on Marietta Square from 5 to 9 p.m. 2. Saturday, Oct. 6: 19th annual Habitat Road Race—5K, 1 mile and Tot Trot: The proceeds from the race will be used to build Mt. Bethel’s 32nd Habitat for Humanity house. The post race celebration will include refreshments, a dj, food, vendor exhibits, door prizes and fun for kids. The race starts at 8 a.m.; admission is $20 by Oct. 3 and $25 after Oct. 3.

The tattoo and piercing studio Lucky Draw Tattoo on Marietta Square provides professional service with a "spa-type atmosphere" and a gallery of local art.

Lucky Draw Tattoo has three tattoo and piercing studios with its newest location making its home on Marietta Square since July 2011. Part of what sets this tattoo parlor apart is its gallery, which features art from the artists who work at Lucky Draw as well as local artists such as Michael Leidel, Lincoln Stone and Elizabeth Semanisin. Lucky Draw tries to provide its visitors, "a spa-type atmosphere and a nicer tattoo shop to go to than normal," owner Phillip Duke said. "This is the only retail shop I have," Duke said of his Marietta location. Undead Invade Marietta Square

The Marietta Zombie Walk raised over six barrels of food and "substantial" monetary donations for MUST Ministries.

The first annual Marietta Zombie Walk brought hundreds of the walking dead to Marietta Square on Saturday. "Zombies don't eat food, and so the undead are bringing food for MUST Ministries, and then they walk around the square," Lisa Hasty, wife and assistant to primary organizer Gary Hasty, said. "They hobble, they crawl, they creep all around the perimeter for MUST Ministries," Hasty added. The Marietta Zombie Walk raised over six barrels of food and "substantial" monetary donations for MUST Ministries. Get Your Spook On in Marietta

Alternative trick-or-treating, haunted jogs, a zombie walk and spooky movie marathon, Halloween parties and a trunk-or-treat: how will you choose to celebrate?

1. The Haunted Hustle is an event for all ages. The 5K starts at 5 p.m. at Southern Polytechnic University and ends at Life University, the 1 mile graveyard scramble starts at 6 p.m. at Barclay Circle at Life University and the yellow brick road tot trot starts at 6:15 p.m. at Lyceum Park at Life University.
