1. Performances for the Children's Garden Theater's production of The Snow Princess will take place on Saturday at 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. Tickets are $10 for adults, and $5 for kids. In order to avoid spending years in the dungeon, the Witch offers to give the childless King and Queen a daughter. The Snow Princess is brought to life by the last remaining drop of Dandywater in the world. As the winter comes to an end, she and the rest of the kingdom realize that she will melt. Knowing that a second drop of Dandywater will turn the Snow Princess into a real girl, the kingdom anxiously awaits any news that a second drop of Dandywater can be found. 2. Here are the holiday happenings taking place in Marietta this weekend.
1. The 2011 Gingerbread Jam takes place on Saturday, Dec. 10 from noon to 8 p.m. at the Mansour Center. The holiday event features a local arts and crafts market, food, festivities and a gingerbread house competition with gingerbread houses on display throughout the entire event. The family friendly event benefits the Dare To Hope Foundation, an Atlanta-based non-profit working to better the lives of children with critical, rare, chronic and complex medical conditions. Admission is a $5 donation for ages 13 and up; 12 and under are free. 2. The 11th annual Sleighbells on the Square 5K takes place Dec. 10 This is a Peachtree qualifying race. Take a look at these Christmas decorations in the Marlow House near Marietta Square.
Built in 1887 as a boarding house, the Marlow House is a charming Victorian house, which has been renovated as a special events facility. It now welcomes guests to a beautifully landscaped courtyard entering a 6,400 square foot home with high ceilings and fireplaces. The Marlow House can host events of up to 250 people.The house is owned by Rebecca Rowden. The Marlow House is also home to the Thomas Kinkade “Painter of Light” Showcase Gallery and a travel agency. Girls and boys came out to the historic Marlow House near Marietta Square to meet Santa and Cinderella and get into the holiday spirit.
Atlanta Lyric Theatre presents its third annual Christmas Tea with Santa Claus and Cinderella, offering a whimsical celebration at the historic Marlow House near Marietta Square. The first tea of the season was on Sunday. Additional teas will be held on Dec. 11, 17 and 18. Attendants enjoy a traditional tea menu with child-friendly sandwiches, holiday sweets, lemonade and more. The event lasts approximately one hour and includes story time and photos with Santa, a personal visit from Cinderella and a special gift for each child. Kick of the holiday season with a variety of family fun events in Marietta from the annual Christmas Home Tour, to the Georgia Ballet's presentation of "The Nutcracker," to a night of carols or tea with Santa and Cinderella.
1. Join Santa and Mrs. Claus for the kick-off to the holiday season with the Christmas Tree Lighting, Thursday, Dec. 1. Festivities start at 5 p.m. in Glover Park in Marietta Square.
