Get Out to Marietta Gun Show, Wonderful Days of Winter 5K

This weekend get out to the Marietta Gun Show at the Cobb Civic Center, Wonderful Days of Winter 5K/1 Mile at St. James' Episcopal Church and Georgia Bridal Show at the Cobb Galleria.

1. The Marietta Gun Show is Saturday, Jan. 5 and Sunday, Jan. 6 at the Cobb Civic Center, 548 S Marietta Pkwy. Saturday: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Sunday: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The gun show is hosted by Eastman Gun Shows.  2. The Wonderful Days of Winter 5K/1 Mile will take place at St. James' Episcopal Church on Saturday, Jan. 5 at 8 a.m. 3. The Georgia Bridal Show is Sunday, Jan. 6 from noon to 5 p.m. at the Cobb Galleria. Holiday Concert, Santa's Workshop, Sleighbells on the Square

Get out to Marietta for a 5K, "White Christmas" at the Strand Theatre, Santa's Art Studio, Holiday Open House and more events in Marietta.

1. Dec. 6, 7:30 p.m.. Symphony on the Square’s 3rd Annual Holiday Concert: Come out to hear light classical, pops and sounds of the season music performed by a local orchestra. The concert is at First Baptist Church of Marietta, open to the public and free of charge. 1. The Sanders Family Christmas at the Strand Theatre will run Thursday through Saturday, Nov. 29-Dec. 1, 2012. The holiday show has the sunny-voiced Sanders Family back just before the beginning of World War II. They're quirky, saintly and delightfully melodic as they interpret everybody's favorite bluegrass gospel music. 2. Dec 1 and Dec. 2, 2012. Santa on Marietta Square, the Marietta Pilgrimage Christmas Home Tour, Symphony on the Square, Santa's Workshop, Sleighbells on the Square 5K, "White Christmas," "The Nutcracker," "The Sanders Family Christmas" and more.

1. Join Santa Claus for his arrival in Marietta and the lighting of the Christmas tree on Thursday, Nov. 29, in Glover Park on the Marietta Square. Festivities will begin at 5 p.m. with performances by local school choruses. Santa will make his grand entrance at 5:20 p.m. and light the giant Christmas tree at 6 p.m. More entertainment will follow while Santa visits with children in the gazebo until 8 p.m.  2. Holiday Spotlight: Thanksgiving Gobble Jog

Enjoy music, exercise and Thanksgiving fun while helping fight poverty at MUST Ministries' 10th annual Gobble Jog.

This week's Cobb, Douglas and Paulding Weekend & Community Spotlight features the 10th Annual Gobble Jog by MUST Ministries. The  road race on Thanksgiving morning raises money to fight poverty. This year’s theme, “It’s kind of a big deal,” heralds the Nov. 22 event that will hopefully attract 10,000 runners, building on last year’s 9,453 attendees. Proceeds from the race help MUST Ministries provide 34,000 individuals each year with food, shelter, education and employment opportunities, clothing and access to healthcare to break the cycle of poverty and homelessness and foster long-term change. Get Out to the Gobble Jog and a Weekend of Movies

The weekend fun starts with the Gobble Jog on Marietta Square and continues with showings of "North by Northwest," "The Princess Bride" and "Pandora's Box."

1. It's time for the Gobble Jog - 5 K and 10 K. On Nov. 22 from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m., runners will fill Glover Park on Marietta Square for the grand event. Races include: Proceeds will benefit MUST Ministries. 2.  "North by Northwest" (1959) (PG) kicks off a weekend of films at the Strand Theatre on Friday, Nov. 23, at 8 p.m. Starring Cary Grant, the film tells the story of Madison Avenue advertising man Roger Thornhill. Thornhill finds himself thrust into the world of spies when he is mistaken for a man by the name of George Kaplan. Foreign spy Philip Vandamm and his henchman Leonard try to eliminate him, but when Thornhill tries to make sense of the case, he is framed for murder. 3. Training for a 5K is a great way to boost your cardiovascular health, reduce stress or simply add more running to your routine. A 5K, or 3.1 miles, is perfect for beginners, but it does take some training to gain the endurance to go the distance. Raina Hafer, NCSF, certified personal trainer and running specialist, shares her shape-up tips for success. The Bear Finishes 11th in Race

Marietta's Bill Moss put on his running shoes and the Karhu Bear costume for a race in Centennial Olympic Park on Saturday.

Marietta native Bill Moss, aka the Karhu Bear, finished the Cuties Luckie 5K with a time of 19:40, placing him in 11th out of about 500 runners, on Saturday. The 10 runners that beat him all got a free pair of Karhu running shoes. The first place winner was Jordan Kinley with a time of 16:58.  Moss, a 29-year-old chiropractic student at Life University, improved from his time of 20:02 last year. Moss has been running for 15 years and was the top finisher from Georgia in the 2012 Houston Marathon and placed 21st overall out of more than 10,000 runners.   He is scheduled to graduate from Life in March and will begin practicing at Friends and Family Chiropractic in Marietta in May. Gingerbread Jam, Santa's Art Studio, Holiday Show

Here are the holiday happenings taking place in Marietta this weekend.

1. The 2011 Gingerbread Jam takes place on Saturday, Dec. 10 from noon to 8 p.m. at the Mansour Center. The holiday event features a local arts and crafts market, food, festivities and a gingerbread house competition with gingerbread houses on display throughout the entire event. The family friendly event benefits the Dare To Hope Foundation, an Atlanta-based non-profit working to better the lives of children with critical, rare, chronic and complex medical conditions. Admission is a $5 donation for ages 13 and up; 12 and under are free. 2. The 11th annual Sleighbells on the Square 5K takes place Dec. 10 This is a Peachtree qualifying race. All proceeds will benefit the Children's Emergency Fund. The fee is $20 before Dec. 5 and $25 after …
