Marietta Patch offers these suggestions for your romantic dinner out.
Marietta has a lot of restaurants and finding the perfect one for a nice dinner out can be a challenge. Marietta Patch offers these suggestions for you Valentine dinner out. 1. Shillings on the Square. When suggesting dining in Marietta, it's impossible to forget Shillings. The romantic view of Marietta Square from upstairs and weekend dinners accompanied accompanied by candlelight and a piano make for an intimate setting. The Streetside Grill on the main floor is more casual. The pub-like restaurant has a classic, woody look. Hanging stained glass lamps and an abbey-like feel make for an impressive yet comfortable setting to dine. Take a look at our review of Shillings. Location: 19 North Park Square, Marietta 30060 Telephone: 770-428-…

Hemingway's Bar & Grill is a great place to stop with friends, family or your pet and catch a bite on Marietta Square.
Hemingway's Bar & Grill has been a favorite of mine since I moved to Marietta. Yes, it is primarily a bar, but the service is friendly, the setting is welcoming and the food is satisfying. Service: I come to Hemingway's a couple times a month for a family lunch, dinner or an after show snack. I've never had bad service, and my dog loves it. The outdoor alley seating is the perfect place to sit and enjoy a meal on the Square. My beagle Jasper's favorite part of Hemingway's is undoubtedly that he gets two treats and a bowl of water every time we go, and he always gets served before me—lucky dog. The alley seating sets you away from the commotion of people walking down the sidewalks, but you can still enjoy the personality of the Square. Food…

Sometimes the most tedious part of dining out is figuring where to go and where not to go. Marietta Patch makes it easy. We scout out restaurants for you. This week: Café de Paris.
The Cafe Paris is a pleasant, relaxing find off the hustle and bustle of Johnson Ferry Road. Tucked away in a shopping center, Café de Paris is attached to the European style home décor store C’est Moi. There is indoor and outdoor seating at this cafe, and I chose to sit outside since I had my dog Jasper with me. Service: The service was polite and fast. I was there for breakfast, and my meal came out about 10 minutes after I ordered. Once I had my meal, the staff didn't come back to my table to check on me, but it's a cafe so that's what I expected. Food: The Cafe Paris serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. The breakfast menu includes Waffles, Eggs, French Toast and Croissant Sandwiches. The Western Omelette is made of three eggs with …

Tommy's Sandwich Shop has been bringing sandwiches to Marietta Square since 1977.
This was my first time in Tommy's Sandwich Shop, and I must say one thing—shame on me. This place was delicious. Tommy's has been located on Marietta Square since 1977. This timeless restaurant is truly a Marietta treasure. It serves sandwiches on seven different types of bread, and all sandwiches include a pickle and chips. Side orders of potato salad, coleslaw, soups and chili, and deviled eggs are available as well as brownies, cakes, pies and cheesecake. Tommy's also serves danishes, muffins, sausage biscuits and bagels for breakfast. Service: I was there around 2 p.m., so I'm not sure if there is a large lunch rush or not. My service was fast and friendly. I got my meal to go; however, I was very comfortable in this shop. It provides …

The Starlight Cafe serves breakfast and lunch to visitors of Marietta Square at reasonable prices.
Unimposing and easily overlooked, The Starlight Cafe has made its home on Marietta Square for over a year. The cafe is located on Roswell Street, but you can see Glover Park from the restaurant. There is indoor and outdoor seating; though, I'd recommend staying indoors this time of year. I was at home the moment I walked inside. Quiet, clean, wood floors, classic dark reds and black, aged brick walls—I was comfortable. The walls are decorated with photos of famous singers and actors including The Three Stooges, Frank Sinatra, James Dean, Elvis Presley, Barbara Eden as Jeannie and more. I found myself playing "name that famous person." The music was something out of the 1950s—soft, smooth and easily ignored or enjoyed. (I'll admit I was the…

Marietta Pizza Company has been serving great pizza on Marietta Square for more than 10 years.
Marietta Pizza Company is my favorite pizza place in Marietta. With calzones, subs, wings, fries and taters, breadsticks, mozzarella cheese sticks, grilled chicken and salads there is a little bit of everything you'd want from a pizza joint. The hip and perfectly located restaurant offers indoor and outdoor seating as well as delivery and takeout. The front dining room is very comfortable, open and light, providing a view of the square. The wooden booths and tables make the perfect setting for a night out drinking or a fun family lunch. The back dining room, which can be entered on Church Street, is smaller and usually more quiet. This dining area is decorated with a more classy air and includes a fountain. Service: This restaurant is …

Marietta Diner may not be fancy, but it provides great service and good food at reasonable prices.
Marietta Diner is obviously a favorite for hundreds, maybe thousands, of residents in the area. No matter what time of day I drive by the establishment it always seems to be packed. The restaurant is a delight. It brings together the welcoming and homey vibe of a good old-fashioned diner and the tastiness of fine dining. Service: The portions are huge, the prices are great, and the service is friendly and fast. It took under five minutes for my food to come after I ordered; though the wait to sit down was a bit long. Food: The menu is huge with a little something for everyone. Breakfast is served 24 hours. Burgers, sandwiches, wraps, soups, salads, seafood, ribs, kabobs, chicken, roast and more make for a thick menu that meets every …

Marietta has a new sub shop on Cobb Parkway that brings great service and tasty food.
This week's Bites Nearby is a little out of the ordinary, primarily because I didn't have time this week to enjoy a sit-down meal but also because there is a new sub shop in Marietta. That being said I bring you Lenny's Sub Shop near Walmart off Cobb Parkway. This Lenny's opened on Wednesday and, for those interested, is now hiring. Lenny's signature dish is the Philly Cheesesteak with grilled onions and swiss American cheese for $6.55. All of their sandwich's are freshly prepared, and this Philly Cheesesteak was no exception. The sandwich was nice and hot. The cheese was completely melted, but not burnt, and blended with the onions, which had a strong kick. The bread was also fresh. Over all this was a good sandwich. Lenny's has a …

With great service, good prices, a delicious meal and wireless internet, Taqueria Tsunami is a new favorite for this writer.
I spend so much time on Marietta Square that I found it impossible not to wander into Taqueria Tsunami, the newest restaurant to make its home there. I have to admit that I was hooked on the atmosphere alone. Hip, welcoming and open describe this Latin-Asian kitchen. Service: Top notch. The service was very attentive and kind. The servers knew the menu from top to bottom and were very helpful selecting items that left me hungry for more. I should mention that I was that annoying customer who asked questions about wifi (they have it), music and the Christmas tree, and they were all answered with a smile. I got to meet the owners and they came back more than once to check on me. Food: The menu is a selection of tacos, sides, salads, …
