The man that brought us Peter Griffin and an alive but vulgar teddy bear named Ted, among other memorable characters, will head up Hollywood’s biggest night Sunday. Seth MacFarlane was announced late last year as the host of the 85th Academy Awards, which airs Sunday, Feb. 24, at 7 p.m. EST on ABC. Though MacFarlane’s entertainment résumé is long, he is perhaps best known as the creator of Family Guy and one of the minds behind two other animated shows on Fox, American Dad! and The Cleveland Show. Just last year, he made an impact on the big screen with a movie he wrote, directed and produced—Ted—which opened with the highest weekend box-office take for an original R-rated comedy at $54.1 million.
